Expansion valves are the critical part in a refrigeration unit which allows pressurized liquid refrigerant to expand inside a small chamber to gaseous state and at the same time absorbs all the heat around it.

Expansion valve activated by thermostatic bulb are commonly known as thermostatic expansion valve and those activated by electrical pulse modulation are known as PWM expansion valve and by pressure and superheat sensor and controlled by electronic drive are known as electronic expansion valve.
